40 Below

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

On November 1st, 2013 the world was introduced to 40 Below: Edmonton's Winter Anthology. A collection of 70 pieces of non-fiction, poetry, and fiction by 55 local authors. Each piece about or inspired by winter in the City of Champions. The 40 Below project aims to show all the aspects of living in a winter environment. There are ups and downs involved but ultimately, winter is a unique thing that not everyone in the world gets to experience.

In Volume II of 40 Below we aim to expand our winter pieces to the entire province of Alberta. That includes the city of Calgary. Winter is part of who we are as Albertans and this anthology aims to celebrate every aspect of our winter lives in this Province. From Fort Vermillion to Coutts, from Lloydminster to Lake Louise.

If you are a writer in this province or who has a story about this province then we want to hear from you. Old and young, professional or amateur, we want your stories, your poetry, your perspective.

The 40 Below was one of the most successful independently published books of the season and one that people bought as gifts for their family and also sent to their friends around the world to show them what winters in Edmonton were like. 40 Below Volume II hopes to build on this wonderful momentum and create something that we are also proud to share with our friends and family around the world.
